For me and Jeney the end of a football season is kind of a sad thing; as dumb as that sounds. We are both huge Denver Broncos fans, so it goes with out saying that this season was disappointing to us. That said, we still enjoy the game and watched the Super Bowl rooting for Green Bay to win, and sure enough they did!
And now the great waiting game begins for NFL fans in general. If you are not aware of it, the leagues owners and players are in the middle of contract negotiations; with talk of both sides not being able to meet in the middle. That could result in a player lock out, strike or whatever you call it - it will be no football in the fall. This might not seem like a big deal, but the NFL employs a ton of people between the games, the media broadcasting and the people printing and selling the NFL merchandise.
Anyone reading this remember what happened to Baseball after the 1994 strike? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994%E2%80%9395_Major_League_Baseball_strike - I know people who still to this day hate baseball because of the grown man baby tantrums both sides threw in 1994 and 1995. It was bad for the sport, it was bad for America.
Do we want this for NFL football? For me the answer is no.
I certainly hope that the players and the owners can work out a deal so America can enjoy a fall and winter with us cheering on our favorite teams. Its the right thing to do, lets hope the players and owners both realize this before it ruins the future of this sport.
