Menifee in March: The valley springs to life

By: William ‘Bill’ Gould for Menifee Buzz

Community events like Harpist Alfredo Rolando Ortiz playing a fundraising concert for the Menifee / Sun City Woman’s Club should be strongly supported in my opinion. This particular event will take place on March 11, at 2pm and will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The church is located at 26800 Newport Road, Menifee, suggested donation is $20. For more about the club and its events, contact Marilyn at 951-679-4024.

Longtime Menifee resident Milton Chavez seems to have fought the law (the city of Menifee), and won (the ability to open a tattoo studio). In a recent city council ruling, the rules were made to allow tattoo studios in certain locations, under certain circumstances. Mr Chavez appears to have met the requirements and will be opening soon; I will certainly provide details ASAP.

Local residents from the rock band Stonz Thro will be performing at the Pit Stop on Friday March 30 at 9pm. The band is made up of Mike Folston on Vocals, Shannon Smith on Guitars, J. D'Amore on Bass and Danny Olsen on Drums. The Pit Stop has plenty of beers and drinks to choose from, so get a designated driver and head on over to 26900 Newport Road, or call them at 951-679-0869 for more info. Before you head to the show, take a moment and ‘like’ Stonz Thro on facebook at www.facebook.com/stonzthro.

Local politics was a hot topic at Sun City’s favorite breakfast restaurant Boston Billies on a recent Saturday morning. After a packed room helped him kick off his campaign, EMWD board member Phil Paule officially qualified for the ballot as a candidate for the 67th Assembly District.

"I am pleased to have made the ballot and I look forward to a spirited campaign" said Paule via email, “Our campaign is running strong and we have already contacted over 3000 voters in the 67th district as well as earned endorsements from voters in every community in the district.”

Paule is the first candidate in the 67th district to qualify for the ballot; find out more about him at http://www.pauleforassembly.com.

If politics isn’t your thing, but country music is, I have a show for you. This show is in Corona on March 31 at 6pm, and it will be worth the short journey. Local area residents Rachael Stark and Jason Glenn will be performing a Las Vegas style tribute concert as Carrie Underwood and Tim McGraw at the Marquee 15 concert dinner venue in south Corona, right off the 15 freeway. I have booked Rachael at many events in the past, and though this event isn’t one I am producing; it will certainly be worth seeing. Tickets are only $12 presale, call 951-200-4465 for dinner reservations or visit http://marquee15.com/events.html for more information.
