Believe it or not, it’s back to school time in Menifee!

Yes folks it is about that time of year again, back to school for the kids. It seems to come earlier each and every year. No matter our childhood memories of starting school after Labor Day, the Menifee Union School District starts Thursday August 16 and Perris Union High School District students start Wednesday August 15. Parents of kids going into to 7th grade take note, a new school immunization law (Assembly Bill No. 354) requires all students entering 7th grade in the 2012-2013 school year in California to be immunized with a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called Tdap.

On Sunday August 19 at the Marion Ashley the Arts Council of Menifee hosts its quarterly reception from 1pm – 4pm. The Arts Council has really worked hard in the past 2 years, bringing our new city a handful of successful events.

Arts Council Menifee Board Trustee Bill Zimmerman said, “There will be music, art displays and a chance to share your thoughts, and see what Arts Council Menifee is currently planning for our community. We would love for you to attend”.

I absolutely agree.

On a totally separate note, the City of Menifee and our local Rotary have a fun event planned October 13 at the MSJC parking lot. This will be an all day extravaganza featuring the well known Menifee Motor Madness Car Show, the City of Menifee Birthday Celebration and a new event, the Taste of Menifee. This new event will feature cuisine from local Menifee restaurants, affordable priced samples and a comfortable covered eating area. The event is free and suitable for all ages, samples will cost you a little bit, but will be well worth it. More details can be found at www.TasteOfMenifee.com, as well as vendor applications for interested local restaurateurs.
