The Holiday season is upon us, with 2013 not far behind

By: Bill Gould for Menifee Buzz

December rounds out a wild year in Menifee. Between new businesses opening like BJ’s and Panera Bread to the election of our first voter-elected Mayor, Scott Mann and new councilperson Greg August; 2012 will go down as an important year in the life of a new city named Menifee. We are fortunate to have such passionate people who care about the future of our city. A big thank you goes to outgoing city councilpersons Darcy Kuenzi and Sue Kristjansson for their hard work and dedication to the residents of Menifee.

Another person who has a passion for Menifee is our new interim City Manager Rob Johnson. Rob recently took over the duties of City Manager after Bill Rawlings stepped down at the end of November. Since joining the city in 2009, Rob Johnson has worked hard to make big positive changes as the person leading the Community Improvement department. Let’s all be sure to give Rob a warm Menifee welcome as he takes the captains chair at City Hall, even if it is just an interim position.

A great way to meet interim City Manager Rob Johnson and Mayor Scott Mann is to come to the City of Menifee Christmas Tree Lighting event on December 8 from 430-730pm in front of City Hall. Mr and Mrs Claus will arrive on a fire truck and there will be live music and fun for the whole family. This is a free event and is a drop off location for the ‘Spark of Love’ toy drive and the Menifee Community Cupboard food drive. If you would like to participate, bring an unwrapped toy and non-perishable food items for donation to folks in need.

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and a Prosperous 2013 to you all!
