February; a month of love, dogs and races

Written By: Bill Gould for Menifee Buzz
I am excited for February, because January ended with the best night of rock n roll Menifee has ever seen. Local performers Universal Trap performed Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ at The Pit Stop, complete with a video projection and spot on solos, see a video here Playing to a packed house, they got a long standing ovation at the end of their set.
This month gets off to a running start with a big event on Saturday February 11 at Lake Skinner, ‘Running for Pets’. This 5k run / walk event aims to raise awareness of healthy family lifestyles with your pet, including fund raising for the “Cause For Paws” group. This is a dog friendly event and camping spots are available, visit registration info.
Are you overwhelmed by the thought of the 14th? Not sure what you should do for your ‘special someone’? I suggest making plans to stay in Menifee and support local businesses. If you are looking for a unique Valentine’s Day meal I suggest Hana Sushi at 30098 Haun Road in the Menifee Countryside Marketplace. Hana Sushi is a nice place with beautiful food – worth a try if you haven’t been before.
In a race of another sort, there are upcoming elections this year; one of them is for the California State Assembly District 67. Phil Paule, a local man who was first elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 as a member of the Board of Directors for the Eastern Municipal Water District is running for this seat. Phil is holding his campaign kickoff Saturday February 18 from 8am – 11am at Boston Billies, located at 26800 Cherry Hills Blvd, Menifee. Come on down, enjoy a breakfast buffet and meet Phil in person.
