September in Menifee, a very busy month around town

By: Bill Gould for Menifee Buzz

Well, the kids are back in school, football has started and with a little luck it will begin to cool down soon. On one recent day I was looking at my calendar in preparation for writing this column. I was amazed by the amount of activities for families and involved citizens to be a part of; September in Menifee is busy!

On Sunday September 9 at the Kay Ceniceros Center at 29995 Evans Rd; the Arts Council of Menifee hosts an Art Gallery Reception from 1pm – 3pm. This is a free event for all ages and will feature the art of 15 different artists. Refreshments will be served; there will be a raffle and a book signing by award winning children’s author Mike Miller. For more information call 951-679-1822.

For local residents who are civic minded and interested in meeting candidates for Menifee Mayor and City Council, you should be at the Menifee Lakes Country Club, 29875 Menifee Lakes Drive, on September 12th from 12 noon till 2pm. The Menifee Chamber of Commerce (951-672-1991) is hosting a candidate forum; the cost is $15 and includes lunch. I have been to these events in the past and the $15 is worth it just for the tasty food!

On Friday September 14 Mt San Jacinto College will be hosting the ‘Sunset Jazz & Wine Fest’ in celebration of the grand opening of the new Humanities and Social Science Building. The Jazz Ensemble will perform and there will be food and wine, ticket info can be found by calling 951-487-3171.

Speaking of food, the Taste of Menifee is coming October 13. This new event will feature cuisine from local Menifee restaurants, affordable priced samples and a comfortable covered eating area. The event is free and suitable for all ages, samples will cost you a couple bucks, but will be well worth it. More details can be found at, as well as vendor applications for interested local restaurateurs. Vendors have until the end of September to sign up, so don’t delay.

Have a terrific September!
